Member Guidelines

The following is an overview of what the club's objectives are and what is expected of members in order to achieve those objectives. Full details of the club's rules and regulations can be found on the club noticeboard.

The objectives of the club are:

  • To encourage the obedience and agility training and exhibition of dogs and to provide obedience and agility training classes
  • To hold Obedience Tests and Agility Events, Obedience and Agility Ribbon Trials conforming to Dogs NZ standards
  • To provide facilities to hold Obedience and Agility Tests/Events, Ribbon Trials and Training Classes
  • To promote good fellowship and mutual support among dog owners and fanciers
  • To support other clubs recognised by Dogs NZ
  • To promote the well-being of dogs in general

 

The committee will do it's best to ensure that these objectives are met but in order to achieve these, the committee requires the support of club members. In particular, but not limited to, the committee requests that the member undertake the following:

  • To represent the club in a loyal and positive manner and to support fellow club members
  • To assist with the organisation and running of official club shows and other club activities wherever possible
  • To assist in the day to day running of the club by undertaking one or more of the duties of the club. These duties include, but are not limited to, committee work, instructing classes, fundraising activities and working bees to maintain and/or improve club assets

 

In addition to the above, the club requires members to:

  • Abide by the rules and regulations of the Wairarapa Dog Training Club Inc.
  • Abide by their local authority's dog control regulations
  • Abide by Dogs NZ regulations
  • Ensure their dogs are regularly vaccinated against all common diseases (eg. Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus)

 

Membership application procedures
Application for membership may be made online for receipt by our club secretary.

New Members
New members are required to have their membership form sponsored by an instructor or committee member. The sponsor endorsing the membership application will ensure that the applicant fully understands the membership guidelines and benefits associated with being a club member. The club secretary will submit all new applications for membership to the committee for approval and ratification. No application for membership will be declined without just cause.

Existing Members
The annual renewal of an existing membership will be automatically approved upon receipt of the completed membership form and the appropriate fee.

Life Members
Life members are required to annually complete a membership form. This will ensure that the club records are kept up to date.
